End of Captivity

After what seems an interminable time, my website is no longer hostage to the whims of my hosting provider’s application setup. Hence, I am TYPING.

Work continues on the album, with wheels-down expected in June. The temptation to make it an eclectic mixture of electronica, soundtracks, and folky singer-songwriter is strong, because that’s just the way I roll. It’s hard to confine yourself to serious composition-work when you spend a couple hours perfecting a cover of “Pancho & Lefty.”

The studio clean-out continues, with nine Ebay auctions completed and a new site over at Reverb.com to continue the departures. I’ve parted with quite a few things, including the Alesis A6 Andromeda and a large pile of guitars. Reverb.com will be the site of my future sales, as I’ve had enough of the flipper-negotiators on Ebay who attempt to pad their margins with fabricated damage claims and demands for partial refunds. (They disappear when you offer them a full refund.) Future sales may include:

  • Lots of controllers
  • an electronic drum kit
  • Small amps
  • Synth modules
As always, experimental tracks will be posted on Soundcloud. Most recently, additions of some ambient electronica and….something….

I felt particularly creative over the week this was written. I added a few tracks to the album-bucket and generally felt like things were going well. Blossoming? That sounds like I’m a debutante. Still, you get the idea.

This is a re-work of an idea I had five or six years ago. Something about rainy city streets and sidewalk traffic just evokes a mood in me. Yes, that IS a cafe frother at the end of the track.

The fear of death as described by Greek philosopher Epicurus..Had a little fun in the office with a cheap mic and Ableton Live and some sample effects.
